It is comprised of upper and middle class, one family houses, combined with lower income multiple dwellings. There are seven major commercial areas located within its boundaries. These commercial areas are Coney Island Avenue from Caton Avenue to Avenue P, Flatbush Avenue from Parkside Avenue to Avenue I, Church Avenue from Bedford Avenue to Coney Island Avenue, Cortelyou Road from Coney Island Avenue to East 17, Street, Avenue M from Coney Island Avenue to Ocean Avenue, Avenue J from Coney Island Avenue to East 17 Street, Newkirk Plaza, an entrepreneurial enclave, between Newkirk Avenue and Foster Avenue.
