The New York City Police Department today announced street closures and anticipated traffic delays for the weekend August 18th & 19th , 2012.  Drivers should expect delays in the following areas:

Saturday August 18th

DOT / SUMMER STREETS
Manhattan:  0700 x 1300
Location(s): 
Centre Street between Brooklyn Bridge exit and Reade Street / Lafayette Street
Lafayette Street between Reade Street/ Centre Street and Fourth Avenue
Fourth Avenue between Lafayette Street and East 15th Street
Union Square East between East 15th Street and East 17th Street
Park Avenue South between East 17th Street and East 32nd Street
Park Avenue between East 32nd Street and East 72nd Street
(Including the viaduct between East 40th Street and East 46th Street)
72nd Street between Park Avenue and 5th Avenue
Rest Stops:                                                                           
Centre Street between Duane Street and Worth Street       
Cleveland Place between Kenmare Street and Spring Street
Kenmare Street between Lafayette Street and Cleveland Place
Astor Place between Broadway and 4th Avenue                
East 24th Street between Madison Avenue and Lexington Avenue
East 25th Street between Madison Avenue and Lexington Avenue
East 40th Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue
East 51st Street between Madison Avenue and Lexington Avenue             
East 52nd Street between Madison Avenue and Lexington Avenue    
The above streets will be closed for this event
The following cross-town streets will remain open to allow vehicles to cross the route:
Chambers St, Worth St, Canal St, Broome St, E Houston St, E 8th St, 14th St, 23rd St, 34th St, 36th/ 37th St, 42nd St, 49th/50th St, 53rd/54th St, 57th St & 59th St.

HARLEM WEEK FESTIVAL
Manhattan:  1100 x 1800
Location(s):
135th Street between Saint Nicholas Avenue and 5th Avenue
Lenox Terrace Place between 134th Street and 135th Street
The above streets will be closed for this event

SUNNYSIDE SUMMER STREETS (DOT Weekend Walks)
Queens:         1100 x 1800
46th Street between Queens Boulevard and Greenpoint Avenue closed

HACKENSACK MEDICAL CENTER CHARITY MOTORCYCLE RIDE
Starting time: Approximately 1000
Start @ NY side of George Washington Bridge
Route:
East on Cross Bronx Expy to exit 2 Harlem River Drive/FDR Drive; S on Harlem River Drive into/becomes FDR Drive; S on FDR Drive thru Battery Park Underpass to n/b West Street; N on West Street into/becomes 12th Avenue; N on 12th Avenue to n/b Henry Hudson Pkwy; N on Henry Hudson Pkwy to exit 14, George Washington Bridge; N on ramp to NJ bound GWB.
Highway Escort MOS will not depart City Limits while PAPD assumes escort responsibility at the GWB approach.
Rolling closures will minimize the impact of this event on the motoring public

AMERICA’S 9-11 MOTORCYCLE RIDE
Manhattan:  Approximately 1700
Starting Point: Holland Tunnel arriving from NJ
Route:
Exit Holland Tunnel and proceed W on Laight Street to West St; N on West Street to W 54th St; E on W 54th St to 7th Ave; S on 7th Ave to arrival and finish @ Sheraton Hotel between 53rd & 52nd St.
Rolling closures will minimize the impact of this event on the motoring public

Sunday, August 19th

FEDERATION OF INDIAN ASSOCIATION PARADE AND FESTIVAL
Manhattan:

Formation:
37th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
38th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
Route:
Madison Avenue between 27th Street and 38th Street
Dispersal:
