NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES STREET CLOSURES AND EXPECTED TRAFFIC DELAYS FOR December 3rd & 4th, 2011

The New York City Police Department today announced street closures and anticipated traffic delays for the weekend of December 3rd & 4th,  2011.  Drivers should expect delays in the following areas:

The following events may have a significant impact on the flow of traffic in the areas indicated:

2011 HOLIDAY SEASON GRIDLOCK ALERT DAYS

The New York City Department of Transportation has announced the following dates as Gridlock Alert Days for the 2011 holiday season:
Friday, December 9th, Thursday, December 15th, Friday, December 16th
Wednesday, December 21st, Thursday, December 22nd, Friday, December 23rd

On all Gridlock Alert Days, lane closures are prohibited from 0600 to 2359 on the following roadways, their service roads and East & Harlem River Bridges. Work behind permanent barriers may continue:

Brooklyn

  • Belt Parkway
  • Brooklyn-Queens Expressway
  • Gowanus Expressway
  • Prospect Expressway

Manhattan

  • Miller Hwy/Henry Hudson Pkwy
  • FDR Drive/Harlem River Drive

Staten Island

  • Staten Island Expressway
  • West Shore Expressway

Queens

  • Grand Central Parkway
  • Brooklyn-Queens Expressway
  • Cross Island Parkway
  • Long Island Expressway
  • Van Wyck Expressway
  • Grand Central Parkway

Bronx

  • Cross Bronx Expressway
  • Major Deegan Expressway
  • Bruckner Expressway
  • Hutchinson River Parkway
  • New England Thruway
  • East River Bridges
  • Brooklyn Bridge
  • Manhattan Bridge
  • Williamsburg Bridge
  • Queensboro Bridge
  • Harlem River Bridges

BROOKLYN BATTERY TUNNEL WEEKEND CLOSURE
One tube of the BBT will be closed from 2300 Friday, December 2nd, thru 0500 Monday, December 5th, to facilitate electrical work. Two-way traffic maintained in the other tube.

Saturday, December 3rd   

SIMBANG GABI SA KATEDRAL PARADE
Manhattan:        1715 x 1830
Formation: 1st Avenue between 56th & 55th Streets
Route: 55th Street between 1st & 2nd Avenues; 2nd Avenue between 55th & 53rd Streets; 53rd Street between Lexington & Park Avenues
Dispersal: Park Avenue between 53rd & 51st Streets
The above streets will be closed for this event

Sunday, December 4th

JAFRIA ASSOCIATION OF NORTH AMERICA PARADE
Manhattan:        1200 x 1800
Formation: Park Avenue between 50th & 51st Streets
Route: Park Avenue between 51st & 65th Streets
Dispersal: 65th Street between Park & Madison Avenues
The above streets will be closed for this event

MIRACLE ON MADISON
Manhattan:        1100 x 1800
Madison Avenue between 57th & 88th Streets closed
