The New York City Police Department today announced street closures and anticipated traffic delays for the weekend of July 30^th and 31^st, 2011.  Drivers should expect delays in the following areas:

TRAFFIC ALERT - FDR DRIVE WEEKEND CLOSURE
For removal of East 78^th Street Pedestrian Bridge
Saturday, July 30^th @ 2300 hrs thru Sunday, July 31^st @ 0700 hrs

FDR Drive:  Removal of E 78^th St Pedestrian Bridge
Beginning Saturday, July 30^th and continuing thru Sunday July 31^st 
The NYCDOT will implement closures of n/b & s/b FDR Drive for removal of the E 78^th Street Pedestrian Bridge.  The FDR Drive will be completely re-opened @ 0700 Sunday, July 31^st.

• One & Two lane closures: Sat, July 30 @ 2300 - Sun July 31 @ 0200. Closures will begin approximately one-half mile before the work area @ E 78^th Street.
• Full closure of FDR Drive: Sun 0200 thru 0700

S/b FDR traffic will be detoured along 2^nd Avenue from 116^th Street to E 74^th Street.
N/b FDR traffic will be detoured along 1^st Avenue from E 61^st Street to E 96^th Street.

NYPD Traffic Agents and Signage will assist motorists along the detour routes.
