The New York City Police Department today announced street closures and anticipated traffic delays for the weekend of July 30th and 31st, 2011. Drivers should expect delays in the following areas:
TRAFFIC ALERT - FDR DRIVE WEEKEND CLOSURE
For removal of East 78th Street Pedestrian Bridge
Saturday, July 30th @ 2300 hrs thru Sunday, July 31st @ 0700 hrs
FDR Drive: Removal of E 78th St Pedestrian Bridge
Beginning Saturday, July 30th and continuing thru Sunday July 31st
The NYCDOT will implement closures of n/b & s/b FDR Drive for removal of the E 78th Street Pedestrian Bridge. The FDR Drive will be completely re-opened @ 0700 Sunday, July 31st.
- One & Two lane closures: Sat, July 30 @ 2300 - Sun July 31 @ 0200. Closures will begin approximately one-half mile before the work area @ E 78th Street.
- Full closure of FDR Drive: Sun 0200 thru 0700
S/b FDR traffic will be detoured along 2nd Avenue from 116th Street to E 74th Street.
N/b FDR traffic will be detoured along 1st Avenue from E 61st Street to E 96th Street.
NYPD Traffic Agents and Signage will assist motorists along the detour routes.
