MISSING PERSONS SQUAD REUNITES MOTHER AND DAUGHTER

DNA Matching Confirmed Joy and Carlina White are Biological Mother and Daughter after 23 Years

Joy White visited Lieutenant Christopher Zimmerman, Commanding Officer of the NYPD Missing Persons Squad, Friday to receive a copy of the paperwork that confirmed Jan. 18 that her DNA matches that of Carlina White. On Jan. 5, detectives from the NYPD Missing Persons Squad met with and collected DNA from Joy White and Carl Tyson - the same day that Joy White called the NYPD to ask for its assistance in verifying the identity of a woman who thought she was her abducted daughter. Detectives subsequently collected DNA from Carlina White, then Nedra Nance in Georgia, which the NYPD Forensics Investigation Division and the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner used to verify her being the biological daughter of Joy White and Carl Tyson.
