SIX FROM NYPD PRESENTED TOP COP AWARD BY NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF POLICE ORGANIZATIONS

Six New York City Police Officers and Detectives were honored Thursday evening by The National Association of Police Organizations at the group’s 18th Annual TOP COPS Awards ceremony, held in Washington, D.C..  The officers were recognized earlier in the day by President Obama and Vice President Biden at a White House Rose Garden ceremony.

Detective Thomas Reilly and Detective Joseph V. Mazzei were recognized as Top Cops for their role in the arrest and indictment of attempted Times Square car bomber Faisal Shahzad.

Police Officer Robert Salerno, Police Officer Sean Fitzpatrick, Police Officer Robert P. Klein, and Police Officer Daniel P. Robbins were recognized for their courage and heroism during a gunfight in a Bronx apartment on March 22, 2010.

New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said, “I congratulate the six officers for being named Top Cops by The National Association of Police Organizations. The courage, bravery and professionalism of these officers represents the very best of the NYPD.”
