Queens
Biathlon: Queens The Biathlon consists of
two events. The first event is a 3 mile run that occurs within Alley Pond Park.
The second part occurs upon conclusion of the run when participants with their
bicycles proceed to race on an eighteen mile course on the n/b Cross Island
Parkway. (Note the 18 mile course is actually two and a half loops on a five
mile section of the n/b CIP.) The n/b CIP will be closed from
approximately 0700 to 1100 hours, from exit 29 (East/West bound Grand Central
Parkway) to exit 32 (Bell Boulevard). All n/b traffic on the CIP would be
detoured to either the East-bound or West-bound GCP. In addition the w/b traffic
on the Long Island Expressway would not be permitted to exit to the n/b CIP.
Upon conclusion of this event the n/b CIP would be reopened no later than
1100.
