The New York City Police Department today announced street closures and anticipated traffic delays for Thursday, July 16^th, 2009 in connection with the Presidential visit.  Drivers should expect delays in the following areas:

The FDR DRIVE will be subject to intermittent closures:

• Southbound at 63^rd Street
• Northbound at South Ferry

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at approximately 5:15 p.m. and remain closed for the duration of the event:

• 49^th Street from Park Ave. to Lexington Ave.
• 50^th Street from Park Ave. to Lexington Ave.
• 53^rd Street from 6^th Ave. to 7^th Ave.
• 54^th Street from 6^th Ave to 7^th Ave.

Trucks and other large vehicles will not be able to access:

On the Westside beginning at approximately 5:15p.m.

·         6^th Ave. from 42^nd Street to 54^th Street

·         52^nd Street from 6^th Ave to 7^th Ave

·         55^th Street from 6^th Ave to 7^th Ave

On the Eastside beginning at approximately 7 p.m.

·         Park Ave. Northbound from 45^th to 50^th Street

·         Park Ave. Southbound from 57^th to 49^th Street

·         Lexington Ave from 57^th Street to 49^th Street

The New York City Police Department encourages the public to use mass transit during this event. Drivers should avoid the Midtown area, or expect significant delays and heavy congestion.
