The New York City
Police Department today announced street closures and anticipated traffic delays
for Thursday, July 16th,
2009 in connection with the Presidential visit. Drivers
should expect delays in the following areas:
The FDR DRIVE will be subject to
intermittent closures:
- Southbound at
63rd Street
- Northbound at South
Ferry
The following streets will be closed to
vehicular traffic beginning at approximately 5:15 p.m. and remain closed for the
duration of the event:
- 49th
Street from Park Ave. to Lexington Ave.
- 50th
Street from Park Ave. to Lexington Ave.
- 53rd
Street from 6th Ave. to
7th Ave.
- 54th
Street from 6th Ave to
7th Ave.
Trucks and other large vehicles will not
be able to access:
On the Westside
beginning at approximately 5:15p.m.

On the Eastside
beginning at approximately 7 p.m.

The New York City Police Department
encourages the public to use mass transit during this event. Drivers should
avoid the Midtown area, or expect significant delays and heavy
congestion.
