The event will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2009 beginning at about 9:20 p.m. and ending at 9:50 p.m. Drivers are advised to use public transportation and avoid the following locations between 2 p.m. and 2 a.m.
The Department reminds spectators that no large backpacks, coolers or alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the viewing area. All restricted items are subject to search and seizure.
- Northbound Westside Highway from 23rd Street to 57th Street from 4:30 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m., July 5th, or until cleanup is complete.
- Southbound Westside Highway from 42nd Street to 57th Street from 4:30 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m., July 5th, or until cleanup is complete.
- Southbound Westside Highway from 42nd Street to 23rd street from 5:30 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m., July 5th, or until cleanup is complete.
Spectators may gain access to the Hudson River viewing area from the following locations: Note: Access blocks will be closed as viewing areas fill up. Spectators will then be redirected to open access blocks as appropriate.

54th thru 57th Streets
Media parking for “Broadcast Vehicles Only” will be available on the Westside Highway at West 44th Street. Each outlet may park one broadcast vehicle parking on the West lane of the bicycle path at the Westside Highway between 44th Street and 43rd Street and accessible beginning at 3 p.m. A DCPI representative will be on site.
Note: No broadcast vehicle may enter the bike path lane until directed to do so by a DCPI representative.
