NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES STREET CLOSURES AND EXPECTED TRAFFIC DELAYS FOR

MAY 30TH  & 31ST

The New York City Police Department today announced street closures and anticipated traffic delays for the weekend of May 30th   and 31st, 2009.  Drivers should expect delays in the following areas:

Saturday, May 30th 

 

17th PRECINCT COMMUNITY COUNCIL FESTIVAL

Manhattan:    1100 x 1800

Lexington Avenue between East 42nd & East 57th Streets closed

 

BROOKLYN HALF MARATHON

Brooklyn:       0730 x 1100

Route: Start on Coney Island Boardwalk @ West 2nd St; W to turnaround @ W 37th St; E to W 10th St; Exit boardwalk @ W 10th St to Surf Ave; E on Surf Ave to Ocean Pkwy; N on Ocean Pkwy to Prospect Expy; Prospect Expy to Park Circle; Enter Prospect Park @ Park Circle onto S Lake Drive; Follow to E Drive; E Drive to W Drive; W drive to Central Drive & Finish

The above streets will be closed for this event

 

Sunday, May 31st

 

SALUTE TO ISRAEL PARADE

Manhattan:    1100 x 1800

Formation: 52nd – 56th Streets between Park & 7th Avenues

Route: 5th Avenue between East 52nd to East 79th Street

Dispersal: 5th Ave between E 79th & E 86th Sts; E 78th through E 84th St between 5th & Lexington Aves; E 68th & E 70th Sts between 5th & Madison Aves; E 69th St between 5th & Park Avenues

The Above streets will be closed for this event

 

BELLEVIEW SOUTH COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION STREET FESTIVAL

Manhattan:    1100 x 1800

Lexington Avenue between East 23rd & East 34th Streets closed

 

BAY RIDGE 5th AVENUE BID FESTIVAL

Brooklyn:       1100 x 1800

5th Avenue between 65th & 85th Street closed

 

FLATBUSH AVENUE BID FESTIVAL

Brooklyn:       1100 x 1800

Flatbush Avenue between Parkside Avenue & Cortelyou Road closed

 

QUEENSBORO BRIDGE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

Queens:          0600 x 1100

The Eastbound Upper Roadway & the ramps from both Queens & Manhattan leading to the e/b Upper Roadway closed

 

Note:   Firework display over the East River near the Queensboro Bridge beginning at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, May 31.
