The New York City Police Department today
announced closures for the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 2. Heavy
traffic is expected throughout the city all day. Mass transit is strongly
Truck traffic will be detoured off the
westbound Brooklyn Queens Expressway at the Hamilton Avenue
Parking is prohibited on both sides of
Avenue from 59th Street north to the
Avenue Bridge and on 5th
Avenue from 138th Street to 89th
Street and on both sides of 59th
Street from 1st Avenue to 2nd
Avenue. In addition, there is no parking on Central
Park West from 59th
Street to 79th Street.
Bridges will be closed at the following
- Verrazano Bridge – Upper level (both
11 p.m. to 3 p.m.
(west to Staten Island)
7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Pulaski Bridge – (both ways)
8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Queensboro Bridge – Upper level (both ways)
Open all day to cars and buses, but closed to all trucks.
8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Willis Avenue Bridge – (both ways)
to 4:45 p.m.
- Madison Avenue Bridge – (both ways)
