The New York Police Department today announced areas in the city that will be impacted by events planned for Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. To relieve traffic congestion, the Department urges people who are planning to come to the city this weekend to use public transportation.

SATURDAY, APRIL 26

SIKH PARADE

Manhattan

11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Formation: 39th Street, 40th Street and 41st Street from 6th to 7th Avenue

Route: South on Broadway from 40th Street to 26th Street; East on 26th Street to Madison Avenue.

SUNDAY, APRIL 27

24th ANNUAL BRONX BIATHLON

Bronx

7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Run Course:  Orchard Beach mall area and Boardwalk

Bike Course:  The twenty mile bike course is held on the three northbound lanes of the Hutchinson River Parkway, between the Cross Bronx Interchange and the New England Thruway.  This distance of 4.5 miles is marked by two cones used as turn-arounds.  The course starts at the Orchard Beach parking lot and proceeds on Shore Road to the traffic circle which leads to the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway.  The participants will do two laps and eventually exit the Hutchinson River Parkway via the norhtbound Orchard Beach exit and return to the Orchard Beach Parking Lot via Shore Road.

Formation: 62nd Street from Amsterdam to Columbus Avenue

Route: North on Columbus Avenue to 65th Street; East on 65th Street through Central Park to Lexington Avenue; South on Lexington Avenue to 23rd Street; West on 23rd Street to Madison Avenue; (Note: At this point walkers go on the sidewalk for return to Dispersal) North on Madison Avenue to 53rd Street; West on 53rd Street to 10th Avenue; North on 10th Avenue to 62nd Street

Dispersal: 10th Avenue & 62nd Street

NYPD HOLY NAME MASS AT ST. PATRICK’S CATHEDRAL

Manhattan

7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Location: St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Formation: 55th Street, Madison Avenue to 5th Avenue

March: West on 55th Street to 5th Avenue; South on 5th Avenue to main entrance of St Patrick’s
Cathedral.  After mass, participants line up on 50th Street to 51st Street and then march south on 5th Avenue to 47th Street; West on 47th Street to 6th Avenue; North on 6th Avenue to entrance of Hilton Hotel (6th Avenue between 53rd Street to 54th Street)
