NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES STREET CLOSURES AND EXPECTED TRAFFIC DELAYS FOR WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 20-21

The New York Police Department today announced that areas of Manhattan will be impacted by events planned for Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October 21, 2007. To relieve traffic congestion, the Department urges people who are planning to come to the city this weekend to use public transportation. All drivers can expect delays.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20

TR GROUP REPUBLICAN CLUB FESTIVAL
Manhattan
11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Waverly Place between Broadway & McDougal Street closed      

VILLAGE INDEPENDENT DEMOCRATS FESTIVAL
Manhattan
11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Greenwich Avenue between 6th & 7th Avenues closed.

AFRICAN AMERICAN CARRIBEAN DAY PARADE
Staten Island
Noon to 6 p.m.
Bay Street from Water Streetto Richmond Terrace and S.I. Yankee Stadium closed.  

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21

SYMPHONY SPACE / NAACP FESTIVAL
Manhattan
11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Westside of Broadway between West 86th and West 96th Streets closed.

BROTHERHOOD LORD OF MIRACLES
Manhattan
3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
West 51st Street between 5th and 10th Avenues closed.
