NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES STREET CLOSURES AND EXPECTED TRAFFIC DELAYS FOR WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 6-8.

The New York Police Department today announced that areas of Manhattan will be impacted by events planned for Saturday, October 6, Sunday, October 7 and Monday, October 8, 2007. To relieve traffic congestion, the Department urges people who are planning to come to the city this weekend to use public transportation. All drivers can expect delays.

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6

 

COLUMBUS ITALIAN HERITAGE PARADE

Brooklyn

1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Formation:  61st Street between 17th Ave & 19th Ave

Route:  18th Avenue between 60th Street & 83rd Street closed

 

AFRICAN BURIAL GROUND CEREMONY AND PROCESSION

Manhattan

11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Route: Battery Place & Greenwich Street; Greenwich Street to Morris Street;  Morris Street to Trinity Place/Church Street; Church Street to Park Place; Park Place to Broadway;  Broadway to Duane Street;  Duane Street to Lafayette Street; Lafayette Street to Worth Street/ Foley Square.

Closures:  Procession will have rolling closures; as the procession passes streets will open

Additional Closures: Areas bounded by Worth St on the North; Chambers St on the South; Broadway on the West; Center Street on the East.
