New York City Police Department today announced street closures
and media parking areas during the Macy’s 30th Annual Fireworks Display over the
East River. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 4, beginning at about
9:20 p.m. and ending at 9:50 p.m. Drivers are advised to use public
transportation and avoid the following locations between 2 p.m. and 2 a.m.
The Department reminds spectators that no large backpacks, coolers
or alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the viewing area. All restricted items
are subject to search and seizure.

Each media outlet will be
permitted to park ONE “BROADCAST VEHICLE ONLY” along the service road of
the FDR Drive by the Water Club parking area accessed from East 23rd Street and
the FDR Drive. Spots are allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning
at 8 a.m. Media support vehicles may park on any side street west of First
Avenue, EXCEPT for the following streets: 23rd, 25th, 34th, and 42nd.
Parking is prohibited in crosswalks, bus stops, and at fire
hydrants.
