The New York Police Department today announced that areas of Manhattan will
be impacted by events planned for Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20. To
relieve traffic congestion, the Department urges people who are planning to come
to the city this weekend to use public transportation. All drivers can expect
delays.

Route: Southbound roadway of West Side Hwy (12th Ave). Runners will start
from Liberty Street and proceeds northbound to 12th Street, then back S/B to
Chambers Street. Approximately 500 participants are expected.
Detours: There will be no southbound traffic permitted on Wet Street from
Liberty Street to 14th Street. All traffic will be detoured North on West
Street, or East from West Street. Additional detours will be implemented at the
discretion of the Traffic Detail Commander.

The above streets will be closed from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Additionally, the
southbound service roadway from 169th Street to McCellan Street, and Walton
Avenue from 167th Street to 168th Street will be closed.
QUEENS BIATHLON
Queens
7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
All lanes of the N/B Cross Island Parkway, between the Grand Central Parkway
(G.C.P.) & Bell Boulevard, will be closed during the above times. All
northbound traffic will be detoured to the Grand Central Parkway during the
closure.
RUN: Start at the transition area located in the upper Alley Park parking
lot. Proceed down the ramp to Winchester Blvd. Turn right and proceed to lower
Alley Park (opposite Creedmore Hospital). Continue the run in Alley Park to the
Old Motor Pkwy to 220th Street. Turn at 220th Street and follow the same route
back to the transition area.
BIKE: The 20 mile bike course starts in Alley Park, proceeds down the e/b
service road of the G.C.P. to the 3 n/b lanes of the Cross Island Parkway
(C.I.P.). Continue for 4.5 mi. to the turn around point at Bell Blvd and ride
back to the G.C.P. entrance. Turn around again and repeat entire loop for a
second time before exiting the C.I.P. and following the service road back to the
transition area.
