New York City Police Department Announces Recommendations For Participants For Saturday’s Demonstration March.

Participants who want to be at the front of the demonstration should arrive early and approach 59th Street and Fifth Avenue from Central Park South.

The demonstration march is scheduled to start on 59th Street and Fifth Avenue at noon, Saturday, December 16, 2006 proceeding south on Fifth Avenue to 34th Street, where the demonstration will turn west on 34th Street towards 7th Avenue.

Fifth Avenue will remain open to vehicular traffic, participants will proceed south in the east traffic lane of the avenue.

Again, the best bet is to enter Central Park South either from Columbus Circle or from Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

Charter buses can drop participants on the west side of Fifth Avenue north of 60th Street, the charter buses will proceed to the pickup locations, returning passengers will find their charter buses parked on the north side of 34th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

Reminder: Signs may be carried on cardboard poles, but no wood or metal is permitted.
