To recognize the outstanding efforts of members of the New York City Police
Department, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly will preside over two promotion
ceremonies of uniformed officers and civilians tomorrow, in the first-floor
auditorium of One Police Plaza. The ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. and 2
p.m.
During the morning ceremony, Deputy Chief Edward Delatorre of Patrol Borough
Manhattan North and Deputy Chief of James Hall of Patrol Borough Queens North
will be promoted to Assistant Chief. In addition, two Deputy Inspectors will be
made full Inspectors and three Captains become Deputy Inspectors.
The ceremony will also mark the promotion of 18 Sergeants to Lieutenant.
Several Detectives will be promoted to Detective 1st Grade and Detective 2nd
Grade. More than 15 officers will be promoted to Detective.
The ceremony will also recognize the promotion of several civilian members of
the Department to various positions.
During the afternoon ceremony, more than 70 members of service will be
promoted to Sergeant. In addition, more than 100 civilians will become Traffic
Enforcement Agents Level II.
