The New York City Police Department today announced the
parking areas that will be available for members of the media for the United
Nations General Assembly. The United Nations is located at 1st Avenue and 42nd
Street.
Effective Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 8 p.m. all media
vehicles parked on the media islands near the U.N. must vacate the location so
security installations may begin. First Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic
starting Tuesday at 10 p.m. Beginning on Tuesday at 11 p.m. media vehicles will
be processed at an initial security checkpoint at 42nd Street and 1st Avenue
prior to placement on the media island at the U.N. "Broadcast only" vehicles may
cue for screening on the west side of 1st Avenue starting at 42nd Street and
lining up 42nd Street south toward East 41st Street.
During the session
of the U.N. General Assembly, trucks may be serviced, fueled or swapped out
between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. only. All "Satellite and Microwave Trucks" returning
to the U.N. zone must be re-screened at the security checkpoint. In addition,
vehicles must return to their original parking location.

command post vehicle on the North - West corner of 1st Avenue and East 46 Street
