To recognize the outstanding efforts of members of the New York City Police
Department, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly will preside over two promotion
ceremonies of uniformed officers and civilians tomorrow, in the first-floor
auditorium of One Police Plaza. The ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. and 2
p.m.
At the morning ceremony, Inspector Thomas Chan of Patrol Borough Manhattan
South and Inspector Raymond Ferrari of Detective Borough Brooklyn will be
promoted to Deputy Chief.
The ceremony will also mark the promotion of more than 10 to Captain and over
25 Sergeants to Lieutenant. Two uniformed members of service will be promoted to
Lieutenant, Commander Detective Squad and two
Sergeants will be promoted to
Sergeant, Supervisor Detective Squad. Several Detectives will be promoted to
Detective 1st Grade and Detective 2nd Grade. Three officers will be promoted to
Detective Specialist.
In addition, George Daus of MISD will be designated to the civilian title of
Director. The ceremony will also recognize the promotion of several other
civilian members of the Department to various positions.
During the afternoon ceremony, more than 90 members of service will be
promoted to Detective Investigator.
