The New York City Police Department today announced the parking areas that
will be available for members of the media for the United Nations General
Assembly. The United Nations is located at 1st Avenue and 42nd
Street.
Beginning on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at 9:00 p.m., "Satellite and
Microwave Trucks Only," may park on a first come, first serve basis on the
"media islands" located on the eastside of 1st Avenue beginning at 45th
Street.
Prior to parking, all "Satellite and Microwave Trucks" must clear a security
checkpoint which will be located at 44th Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd
Avenue. Trucks may cue for screening on the eastside of 3rd Avenue, south of
44th Street.
During the session of the U.N. General Assembly, trucks may be serviced,
fueled or swapped out between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. All "Satellite and Microwave
Truck" returning to the U.N. zone must be re-screened at the security
checkpoint. In addition, vehicles must return to their original parking
location.

assistance.
