To recognize the outstanding efforts of members of the New York City Police
Department, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly will preside over two promotion
ceremonies of uniformed officers and civilians tomorrow, in the first-floor
auditorium of One Police Plaza. The ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. and 2
p.m.
The morning ceremony will mark the promotion of five Captains to Deputy
Inspector. In addition, more than 15 Lieutenants will be promoted to Captain and
more than 30 Sergeants will be promoted to Lieutenant.
Two uniformed members of service will be promoted to Sergeant, Supervisor
Detective Squad and more than twenty to Detective Investigator and Detective
Specialist. Several detectives will be promoted to Detective 2nd Grade.
The ceremony will also recognize the promotion of civilian members of the
Department to various positions.
During the afternoon ceremony, more than 100 uniformed members of the service
will be promoted to Sergeant.
