The New York City Police Department today announced the traffic closures and
expected delays that will occur during numerous events this weekend, including
the East 116th Street Festival on Saturday and the
Puerto Rican Day Parade on
Sunday. Because of the expected crowds in the following areas, drivers should
expect heavy delays. Public transportation is highly encouraged. As a reminder:
The alcohol ban at
these public events will be enforced.
SATURDAY, JUNE 12
116TH STREET FESTIVAL

TRAFFIC DETOURS
Formation area: Traffic will be detoured from the formation streets (above)
upon the arrival of the first marching units or sooner, if so directed by the
Traffic Commander.
Southbound: At 9:30 a.m., Fifth Avenue traffic at 96th
Street will be detoured.
Westbound: At 9:30 a.m., 60th Street traffic will be
detoured north on Madison Avenue.
Eastbound: 58th Street will be closed at
Seventh Avenue.
Central Park South will closed at Columbus Circle; however, a
lane will be established to permit vehicles destined for hotels therein. No
vehicular traffic will be permitted to cross Fifth Avenue at Central Park
South.
Pedestrian Crossings: 58th Street from 5th Avenue, eastbound
Ticket-holders enter from 67th and 70th Streets (bag check at stands)

Street from Madison Avenue, westbound only
72nd Street, eastbound and

90th Street, eastbound from
Central Park
Transverse Roads: Closed both east and westbound at all times,
except 96th Street.
