Department of Citywide Administrative Services
Commissioner Martha K. Hirst and Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly announced
today that the Department of Citywide Administrative Services is now accepting
applications for the Police Officer exam scheduled to be held on Saturday,
October 23, 2004. Applications for the exam must be filed by Friday, August 13,
2004. For those who cannot make it to the scheduled exam, the Department of
Citywide Administrative Services will offer two alternative exam times on
October 22 and 24, 2004.
Applications are available at all Precincts,
Transit Districts, Police Service Areas, Public Libraries, Department of Labor
and at the office of the Department of Citywide Administrative Services at 18
Washington Street in Manhattan. To find the location of your local precinct or
to apply for the test online, log on to www.nyc.gov/nypd. There is no filing fee
for this exam.
To be eligible to take the Police Officer exam, applicants
must be at least 17½ years old by the last day of filing (August 13, 2004), and
not have reached their 35th birthday by the first day of filing (June 2, 2004).
Those applicants who have served in active duty with the U.S. military may be
exempt up to six years from the age requirement.
