Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly To Preside Over Promotion Ceremonies For 249 Members Of The Department

To recognize the outstanding efforts of members of the New York City Police Department, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly will preside over the promotion ceremonies of 170 uniformed officers and 79 civilians on Friday, March 26, in the first-floor auditorium of One Police Plaza. Two ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The 11 a.m. ceremony will recognize discretionary promotions including 5 to Detective Investigator, 30 to Detective Specialist, 2 to Lieutenant, Commander Detective Squad, 2 to Sergeant, Supervisor Detective Squad, and 3 to Sergeant, Special Assignment. In addition, 14 members of service will be promoted to Detective 2nd Grade and 4 officers will be promoted to Detective 1st Grade.

The 11 a.m. ceremony will also recognize the promotion of 79 civilian members of the Department to various positions.

During the 2 p.m. ceremony, 14 Lieutenants will be promoted to Probationary Captain, 35 Sergeants to Probationary Lieutenant and 61 Police Officers and Detectives will be promoted to Probationary Sergeant.
