Deputy Commissioner for Administration Paul J. Browne to be Appointed to
Deputy Commissioner, Public Information
To recognize the outstanding efforts of members of the New York City Police
Department, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly will preside over the promotion
ceremony of 30 uniformed officers and 20 civilians today, in the first-floor
auditorium of One Police Plaza. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.
The ceremony will recognize the appointment of Deputy Commissioner for
Administration Paul J. Browne to Deputy Commissioner, Public Information. The
ceremony will also observe the promotions of Charles F. Gunther, Jr. and Edwin
A. Young to Assistant Chief, as well as Denis M. McCarthy to Deputy Chief. Other
discretionary promotions include five to Inspector and five to Deputy Inspector.
In addition, two uniformed members of service will be promoted to Lieutenant
Commander Detective Squad; six to Sergeant Supervisor Detective Squad and nine
to Detective Investigator.
The ceremony will also recognize the promotion of 20 civilian members of the
Department to various positions.
