To recognize the outstanding efforts of members of the
New York Police Department, New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly
will preside over the promotion ceremony of 54 uniformed officers and
50
civilians on Friday, October 3, in the first-floor auditorium of One
Police Plaza. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m.
Commissioner Kelly will appoint Dr. Eli J. Kleinman to Supervising Chief
Surgeon, as well as Dr. Israel S. Berkowitz to Deputy Chief Surgeon and Dr.
Dani-Margot Zavasky to Medical Director for Counter
Terrorism.
Commissioner Kelly will also recognize the promotion of Dennis L. Blackman to
Deputy Chief in the NYPD’s Hates Crime Unit, and the promotion of Harry J. Wedin
to Deputy Chief in the Operations Division. In addition, four officers will be
promoted to Inspector and one to Deputy Inspector.
The ceremony will also recognize the promotion of 8 officers to Detective
First Grade, 14 to Detective Second Grade, 25 to Detective Investigator, and 47
civilians to various positions.
