The New York City Police Department today announced
street closures and media parking areas during the Macy's 27th Annual Fireworks
Display over the East River. The event will take place on Friday, July
4,
beginning at about 9:20 p.m. and ending at 9:50 p.m. Due to the expected
crowds, drivers are advised to use public transportation and avoid the following
locations between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m.

-FDR Drive From Houston Street to East
63rd Street (both directions)
-FDR Drive From Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn Battery Tunnel
Between FDR and First Ave. All streets from Houston to East 63rd Street Battery
Park Underpass Both directions

TRAFFIC CONGESTION
3 p.m. to 1 a.m. First, Second, and Third
Avenues, 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, 57th, and Houston Streets
MEDIA PARKING
Due to limited parking
conditions, media outlets will be permitted ONE vehicle equipped with a
microwave antenna along the service road of the FDR Drive by the Water Club
parking area. This is an angled parking
area, where spots are allotted on a
first-come, first-serve basis. Media support vehicles may park on any side
street west of First Avenue, EXCEPT for the following streets: 23rd, 25th, 34th,
and 42nd.
Vehicles will not permitted to park in pedestrian crossings,
crosswalks, bus stops, and unattended on a fire hydrant.
