The New York City Police Department is now accepting
applications for the Police Officer exam schedules to be held on October 18,
2003. Applications for the exam must be filed by August 26, 2003. For those who
cannot make it to the scheduled exam, the Department of Citywide Administrative
Services (DCAS) will offer three alternative exam times on October 17, 23, and
26.
Applications are available at all Precincts, Transit Districts,
Police Service Areas, public libraries, Department of Labor, and at the DCAS
office at 18 Washington Street in Manhattan. Applicants can also file online at
www.nyc.gov/nypd.
To be eligible to take the Police Officer exam,
applicants must be at least 17½ years old by the last day of filing (August 26,
2003), and not have reached their 35th birthday by the first day of filing (July
2, 2003). Those applicants who have served in active duty with the U.S. military
may be able to deduct up to six years from the age requirement.
