James Onalfo will be appointed Deputy Commissioner,
Technological Development
To recognize the outstanding efforts of members of the New York Police
Department, New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly will preside over
the promotion ceremonies of 96 uniformed officers and 56 civilians on Thursday,
May 29, in the first-floor auditorium of One Police Plaza. The ceremony will
take place at 11 a.m.
Commissioner Kelly will recognize the appointment of James Onalfo to Deputy
Commissioner, Technological Development. Onalfo has been directly involved with
all facets of information technology, supporting a wide variety of international
businesses. He served as vice president and chief information officer at Stanley
Works. He also served for 10 years at Kraft Foods International as director and
chief information officer.
The ceremony will also recognize the promotion of 10 officers to Captain, and
11 to Detective Second Grade . In addition, 53 officers will be promoted to
Sergeant, 11 to Detective Investigator, and 11 to Detective Specialist. The
ceremony will also recognize the promotion of 56 civilians to various positions.
