The New York City Police Department today announced the parking areas that
will be available for members of the media during the anti-war rally on
Saturday, February 15, near the United Nations. The rally stage area will be at
East 51st Street and First Avenue, and will extend north to accommodate the
crowd.
Starting today, Friday, February 14, vehicles with proper media credentials
may park on the U.N. island, which is between East 45th and 47th Streets, from
First Avenue to the East River.
Then, on Saturday, February 15, at 6 a.m., members of the media may begin
parking on the east side of First Avenue between East 49th and 50th Street.
During the rally, members of the media will be allowed to park in any legal
parking spot on any side street, as long as their vehicles do not block
intersections. There will be no parking permitted on First Avenue from East 51st
Street north to East 78th Street.
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information will set up a
mobile Media Information Center on First Avenue between East 47th and 48th
Streets, and will be open on Saturday at 7 a.m.
