To recognize the outstanding efforts of members of the
New York Police Department, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly will preside
over the promotion ceremonies of 131 uniformed officers and 111 civilians on
Friday, January 31, in the first-floor auditorium of One Police Plaza. The two ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
During the 11 a.m. ceremony, one officer will be
promoted to Inspector, two will be promoted to Deputy Inspector, and 111
civilians will promoted to various positions. In addition, 15 members of the
Department will be recognized for completing the Police Management Institute.
Since 1988, this intense training program has been conducted in association with
Columbia University's Graduate School of Business to provide a
comprehensive curriculum to prepare officers for senior executive positions.
The 2 p.m. ceremony will recognize the promotion of 31 officers to Probationary Lieutenant, and 97 to Detective Investigator.
