The New York Police Department, along with the Mayor's Community Assistance
Unit and the Citizens Committee for New York City, will host Model Block Holiday
Parties at five locations on Friday, December 20, and Saturday, December 21.
As part of the Model Block Program, which seeks to clean up specific streets
in the city, members of the NYPD's Youth Services Section will host the parties
and hand out toys to children through the Toys For Tots program. More than 1,200
children are expected to attend the events throughout the city. Each party will
feature games, face-painting, T-shirts, food, as well as appearances from
McGruff the Crime Dog and the D.A.R.E. Lion.
The Model Block Holiday Parties will take place at the following locations
and times:
- Phase Piggy Back Inc., 262 West 145th Street, Manhattan; Friday at
4
p.m.
- St. Mary's of the Sea, 1920 New Haven Avenue, Queens; Friday at 6
p.m.
- Featherbed Youth Center, 1646 Grand Avenue, Bronx; Friday at 6:30
p.m.
- P.S. 192, 500 West 138th Street, Manhattan; Saturday at noon.
- 131 Edgecombe Avenue (West 141st Street), Manhattan; Saturday at 6
p.m.
