On Thursday, November 28, New York City will be hosting
the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. During these times of heightened awareness,
the New York City Police Department would like to remind members of the public
that security for participants and spectators is paramount. To this end, those
who are attending the parade and the pre-parade events, starting on Wednesday
night, can expect security checkpoints for both pedestrians and motorists,
increased traffic controls and delays, and limited parking in the vicinity of
the parade. Backpacks and other types of bags may be examined prior to allowing
spectators into the vicinity of the parade. The Department is asking for the
public's cooperation and
patience.
