To recognize the outstanding
efforts of members of the New York Police Department, Police Commissioner
Raymond W. Kelly will preside over two promotion ceremonies of 242 uniformed
officers and 23 civilians on Friday, September 27, in the first-floor auditorium
of One Police Plaza. The first ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.; the second will
begin at 2 p.m.
The first ceremony will recognize the promotion of three
officers to Inspector and four officers to Deputy Inspector. In addition, 20
officers will be promoted to Probationary Captain, 4 to Lieutenant Commander
Detective Squad, 3 to Lieutenant Special Assignment, 25 to Probationary
Lieutenant, 2 to Sergeant Supervisor Detective Squad, 9 to Sergeant Special
Assignment, 10 to Detective First Grade, and 19 to Detective Second Grade. The
11 a.m. ceremony will also mark the promotion of 23 civilian members of the
Department.
The second ceremony, at 2 p.m., will recognize the promotion
of 74 officers to Probationary Sergeant, 27 to Detective Specialist, and 49 to
Detective Investigator.
