The Unit is responsible for informing Department members of all pertinent legislative developments, as well as developing strategies for their effective implementation. Legislative suggestions from members of the Department are solicited and utilized to draft bills and memoranda of support.
Additionally, in cooperation with the Mayor’s Office, the Unit works on significant public safety lobbying efforts and works to coordinate sensitive communications between Department members and elected officials.
