NYC - recycle more, waste less New York City Recycles NYC Department of Sanitation
Single-Use Items at Work

Here are some ways to reduce waste associated with single-use items:

  • Offer free or reduced-cost refills to employees who bring reusable mugs or cups.
  • Avoid single-use condiments. Buy in bulk and use refillable dispensers or other containers for sugar, cream, salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, soy sauce, and other condiments.
  • Use straw and toothpick dispensers to eliminate use of individually wrapped products.
  • Use fewer disposable batteries. Invest in individual rechargeable batteries and a recharger.
