TECHNICAL ADVICE

Recycling outreach staff from the DSNY Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling can come meet with your custodian and school administration to review school recycling regulations and offer advice about setting up an effective school recycling program.

To request a visit, please complete the site visit request form.

SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES

We strongly recommend showing the 20-minute TrashMasters! Waste Side Story video (download online, or available in our RRR Kit and DVD) at assembly programs to boost your school recycling efforts. This fantastic presentation on waste and recycling is geared specifically to NYC school children, and the characters in the DSNY/Marvel comics were literally drawn from these videos.

The best way to learn is by doing; make sure your students can recycle at school! Some schools encourage students to create and stage their own skits, PowerPoint presentations, rap songs, or sing-alongs to share their knowledge.

See school assemblies for links to school performers.

Otherwise, you can request a Department of Sanitation representative to give a presentation at your school on litter, graffiti, and other sanitation issues including recycling, by contacting the DSNY Office of Community Affairs at 646-885-5021.
