The June 1999 Backyard Composting Report (pdf) presents the results of NYC Department of Sanitation's year-long Backyard Composting Pilot Program. In this Program, the Department worked with NYC's botanical gardens to implement backyard composting in four test neighborhoods and at the same time researched residents’ receptivity, participation rates, and waste composition impacts of the Program.
