Animated characters promote recycling with humor and music. Initially developed in 2001, these ads ran in English and Spanish from April through June 2001 on network and cable stations. When the recycling program was restored in 2004 after cutbacks, the ads ran in English in Spring 2004 on cable and network stations.

DSNY launches the blue and green recycling bin animated characters to promote expanded recycling throughout the City’s five boroughs. The ads ran in English and Spanish on broadcast and cable stations. From this point forward, the blue and green bin characters become regular features of the Department’s public education campaigns.
