If you are a New York State resident, small business, or non-profit organization of a certain size or type, manufacturers must accept your electronics for recycling free of charge. For information about these programs, as well as asset recovery programs for large businesses and organizations, visit the electronics take-back page.
If selecting your own electronics recycler or trade-in service, it is important to find out how they process and recycle the materials they collect to verify they act in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Be sure to contact the recycling company or facility for details about their process and their end markets.
NYC Mayoral Agencies must utilize the Citywide Agency Safe Handling Contract to dispose of these items.
