Recycling in New York City
Every building in New York City is required by law to recycle — including every residence, city agency, school, institution, and business. Recycling refers to the collection and reprocessing of waste materials into new products.
Recycling regulations depend on the type of collection service you receive:

All street events, including block parties and
street fairs, are required to recycle. Non-compliance with recycling
regulations is punishable by fines starting at $25 and

NYC Agencies are responsible for ensuring that outside vendors recycle any designated materials produced by their work for the Agency. Recycling requirements must be included in all contract and concession agreements where recyclables are generated as part of the operation of the vendor service(s).
