Summary: The NY State Green Cleaning Law, enacted as Chapter 584 of the Laws of 2005 , requires elementary and secondary schools to procure and use environmentally sensitive cleaning and maintenance products in schools in accordance with guidelines prescribed by the Commissioner of General Services. The Commissioner maintains a list of contractors which produce, manufacture or offer for sale environmentally-sensitive cleaning and maintenance products appropriate for use by elementary and secondary schools.
