Summary: New York State adopted the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)worker safety and health standards for the state's public employees.
Additionally, NY State Labor law guarantees employees' rights to information, training and education regarding toxic substances in the workplace. It also requires all laborers, workers, and mechanics employed in the performance of large construction contracts on public work sites to successfully complete a construction safety and health course approved by OSHA.
