Summary: Taxicabs and for-hire vehicles are governed by specifications for safety, quality and comfort and regulated by the Taxi and Limousine Commission. Local Law 72 of 2005
designates certain alternative fuel vehicles as eligible to be used as taxicabs to support NYC's policy to reduce air pollution and conserve fuel.
Amendments: Local Law 52 of 2006
extends the retirement period for clean air and accessible taxicabs. Local Law 53 of 2006
requires the creation of a plan to promote the use of clean air and accessible taxicabs and for-hire vehicles.
