SAFE Disposal Events (Solvents, Automotive, Flammables, Electronics)
DSNY Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling now offers SAFE disposal events, where residents can safely dispose of harmful household products and electronics. For dates, times, and details, visit the SAFE disposal event page.

NYC's Recycling Bin and Bag Characters
As a fun way to encourage New Yorkers to recycle more and waste less, the DSNY Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling has arranged for NYC's recycling bin and bags to appear at various venues throughout the city.
Where appropriate, appearances include an info table, photo backdrop, and the opportunity for people to take home free Polaroids of themselves next to NYC's recycling mascots. Learn more.

Electronics Recycling & Clothing Donation Events
Funding permitting, the DSNY Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling has organized electronics recycling and clothing donation events to provide New Yorkers with additional opportunties to recycle their unwanted electronics and donate their used clothing and linens.

Compost Giveback Events
Funding permitting, the DSNY Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling has given away unlimited amounts of top-quality compost to NYC residents and institutions through its fall and spring compost giveback events.

Recycling at Street Events in NYC 
All street events, including block parties and street fairs, are required to recycle. Non-compliance with recycling regulations is punishable by fines starting at $25 and increasing to $500 for repeat violations. Learn more.
The Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO)
issues permits for street fairs, festivals, block parties, green markets, commercial/promotional events, and other events on the City's streets and sidewalks.
