Paper Towels

Here are some ways to reduce the amount of paper towels used in your workplace:

• Install electric hand dryers or cloth roll towels in restrooms instead of paper towels. High-speed hand dryers are also an option. They dry hands in one-third the time and use one-third of the energy, compared to traditional hand dryers.

• Purchase recycled-content paper towels. Paper towels with recycled content are available from various companies.

• Use reusable cloth rags instead of paper towels for cleaning. Issue a rag-cleaning contract with an industrial laundry service that will provide clean rags and collect and clean soiled rags. See information on rag rental and cleaning vendors in the New York City area.
