paradetown: Pride

Heritage of Pride Parade
5th Avenue (at 52nd St) to Christopher St, Manhattan

Heritage of Pride is a non-profit corporation that organizes Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride events in New York City to commemorate the Stonewall Riots. In the spirit of Stonewall, Heritage of Pride welcomes the participation of all, regardless of age, creed, gender, gender identification, HIV status, national origin, physical, mental or developmental ability, race, religion or sexual orientation. Their parade through Greenwich Village is always an exciting, colorful, and memorable event.

TANYETTE'S COOKBOOK
As seen in this episode of Paradetown USA, here is Tanyette’s bratwurst recipe.

Bratwursts in Beer
Brat requires a two-step cooking process - to cook it on a stove top or microwave first and then heat and brown on the BBQ. Otherwise you will run the risk of burnt skin and a raw middle.

Step 1:
Pour a bottle of dark beer (Porter works best, but any beer gives more flavor than water) into a frying pan. Bring to a simmer and add about 4 to 6 bratwursts. Cook the brats until they are close to being done, about 140 degrees for 5 minutes. You can do this step ahead of time, even the day before.

Step 2:
Now your ready for the BBQ. Have a hot grill that will make some nice dark lines on the brat and will safely bring them to "hot and juicy" while you relax and talk to your guests. You can just eyeball them to see if they are done. Put your hand a few inches over the grill and if you need to pull your hand by the count of 3, it should be ready.

Get some dinner rolls and dress the bratwurst with the works. Wash them down with plenty of the season's appropriate brew.
