NYC TV AND TV GLOBO PARTNER TO BRING BRAZILIAN DAY TO NEW YORKERS AND TELEVISION VIEWERS AROUND THE WORLD

NYC TV, the official network of the City of New York and TV Globo, the Brazil-based international media company, announced an agreement to collaborate in covering the 19th Annual "Brazilian Day in New York" Celebration. The Brazilian Day festivities, which stretch along Sixth Avenue from 42nd Street to 54th Street, the area known as 'Little Brazil', have become the largest Brazilian cultural celebration outside of Brazil, attracting over 600,000 visitors in 2002 and watched by over 50 million people worldwide, including Brazil. This agreement was made possible by TV Globo's multi-year contract to cover "Brazilian Day in New York", organized by Event Chairman Jõao de Matos.

TV Globo is bringing such Brazilian celebrities as Angélica, Andre Marques, Carolina Diekmann, Lucio Mauro Filho, Juliana Pães, Wladimir Britcha, Priscila Fantim and singers Daniel, David Moraes and Ivete Sangalo, in addition to a production team of over 70 to produce the event and record the show in order to broadcast it in following weeks via satellite across the world and back in Brazil. NYC TV will be airing highlights of the musical performances and festivities on its flagship channel 74 on its Sunday morning program "NYC: Paradetown, USA" as well as in episodes of "Cultural Corners". "NYC TV is continually looking for innovative ways to connect New Yorkers with the tremendously rich cultural diversity this great city has to offer," said Arick Wierson, General Manager of NYC TV. "This is also an excellent example of the types of partnerships that will ensure that NYC TV continues to distinguish itself as the place to go for New York entertainment, information, arts and culture."

"We are very pleased to be working with the City of New York in this effort," said Amauri Soares, the CEO of TV Globo's International Operations. "Globo has a strong tradition of involving itself in the community which it serves. While thousands of Brazilians call New York home, we also embrace this opportunity to share Brazil's amazingly diverse array of musical performers and entertainers with all New Yorkers."

In addition to the on stage performances, NYC TV will be taking New Yorkers back stage, as well as documenting all the action on the street during the city's much anticipated cultural celebration. NYC TV's Julie Laipply, the host of the all New York shoe-string budget travel adventure show "$9.99", will be on hand, interviewing the many celebrities and dignitaries that come out for this event. "This is NYC TV at its best," said Seth Unger, the network's Director of Creative Development who will be producing the event for the City's television network. "Brazil Day is fun, entertaining and a celebration of one of the diverse cultures that makes New York City the world's second home."

The air dates of the Brazilian Day festivities on NYC TV will be made available on the network's website: www.nyc.gov/tv.
