Miss Teen USA 2003
NYC TV Public Service Announcer

Bio:
Tami Farrell got more out of her summer break than most teens when the18-year-old Oregonian’s life changed and she was crowned MISS TEEN USA 2003 on August 12th.

A recent high school graduate, Tami grew up in Phoenix, Oregon, where many consider her a tomboy.   She was the first girl to play on an all-boys baseball team and had a hard time fitting in until she hit a grand slam in the finals, winning the game for her team. Growing up on a farm with two brothers might have contributed to her athleticism and winning spirit!  Tami’s two pet ducks, Daisy and Ducky, who she raised in her bathtub until they were big enough to swim in the family’s pond, also keep her active and fit.

During the Miss Teen USA competition the other delegates also awarded Tami with the Miss Congeniality Award, given to the delegate who is most congenial, charismatic and inspirational.  That was no surprise to those who know Tami.  A real go-getter, Tami was not only her Freshman, Sophomore and Junior class President, but her senior year she was also elected All Body President. Her dedication to the community is apparent through her work with local fundraisers, blood drives and volunteering. When she has a few minutes to spare, Tami plays her guitar and loves to sing country music or her own music compositions.

Tami will spend her year as a youth advocate focusing on self-esteem issues, anti-violence and anti-drug campaigns.  She will work to affect change with organizations such as PAX:  Real Solutions to Gun Violence, the “What’s Your Anti-Drug?” Campaign and SHiNE (Seeking Harmony in Neighborhoods Everyday), organizations committed to opening dialogues with today’s youth about the importance of communicating to create safe living, educational and social environments.  As she explained during her final question, “It is very important for teens to build their self-confidence; it is an important component in attaining dreams.”

The Miss Universe Organization, producers of the MISS UNIVERSE®, MISS USA® and MISS TEEN USA® Pageants, is a Donald J. Trump and National Broadcasting Company, Inc. (NBC) partnership.
